The 12 axes
Most political tests squeeze you onto one or two lines. 12axes scores twelve questions separately, so a result can be economically left and socially traditional, or pro-market and pacifist, without averaging those positions away.
Each axis has two poles drawn on opposite sides of the circle. Your answers set how far you reach toward each one, and together the 24 points make your political shape.
Government
Power belongs with regions and local communities.
One national government sets the rules for everyone.
Legitimate power comes from voters and accountable institutions.
A strong leader or ruling group should govern without electoral checks.
The state should limit freedoms to keep order and safety.
Individual liberty matters more than state-imposed security.
Foreign & Nation
Nations should pool sovereignty and act as a global community.
The nation and its sovereignty come first.
Military strength and willingness to use it are essential.
Peace and diplomacy should almost always win over force.
Newcomers should adopt the national culture; immigration should be limited.
Many cultures can coexist; immigration enriches society.
Economy
Wealth should be shared; collective or public ownership is preferred.
Private property and market outcomes should be respected.
The state should plan and regulate the economy.
The economy works best with minimal government involvement.
Domestic industry should be shielded from foreign competition.
Open borders for goods and capital make everyone richer.
Society
Religion should stay out of public life and law.
Faith should shape public morality and law.
Society should keep changing toward greater equality and inclusion.
Inherited customs and institutions deserve protection.
Faster technological change, including human enhancement, is good.
Technology must be restrained to protect nature and human nature.
